Disclaimer

What this site is, what it is not, and how to use it responsibly.

Educational reference only

UK Care Reference provides general educational information about adult social care in England. It is not legal advice, clinical advice, or professional advice of any kind, and it must not be relied on as such. No decision about a person's care, safety, employment or legal position should be based on this site alone.

Check the current official position

Law, regulations and guidance change — sometimes quickly, as with the June 2026 Supreme Court judgment on deprivation of liberty and the staged commencement of the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. Every topic page shows a "last reviewed" date and links to official sources. Always check the current official guidance, and your own organisation's policies, before acting.

Interactive tools

The walkthrough tools on this site (the MCA test walkthrough, RIDDOR checker and safeguarding decision flow) are educational aids that simplify complex law for learning purposes. They do not cover every circumstance, do not constitute advice, and never replace your organisation's procedures, professional judgement, or the official guidance.

No liability

While care is taken to keep content accurate, no warranty is given as to accuracy, completeness or currency, and no liability is accepted for loss arising from reliance on anything published here. External links are provided for reference; their content is not controlled by this site.

Emergencies

Nothing on this site is for emergencies. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent safeguarding concerns, contact your local authority safeguarding team.
